You know how the government charge duty on cigarettes and booze and petrol, partly to encourage people to stop consuming them, cos they're bad for your health, etc. Taxes being used to discourage people from buying stuff. There's VAT on luxury items but not on essential items, thus discouraging us from consuming luxuries.
So Income Tax, that's there to discourage people from working, right?
