Phone Hacking scandal Venn Diagram

Kristin off of the the internet asked me to creat a some kind of Venn Diagram showing how all the people involved in the News of the World phone hacking scandal are linked, so I had a go.

It shows who works for News Corp/News International, who are journalists, who are police or politicians, and who had their phone hacked.

It doesn't show who wined and dined whom, and it only shows which police commissioners have resigned rather than anyone who's resigned.

And it is only up to date for eighteen hours before something new happens and I need to change it.

I did it using PowerPoint as that was the only tool to hand, if only I had Illustrator or a computer of my own...

Scenester Scene #2

Now that you're read an ruminated on my previous posting on the scenester scene in the UK's capital city, London, I thought I'd post a follow-up. So I've added Fortuna Pop, Spiral Scratch and Indietracks to my spreadsheet of what bands have played what London clubnights (in addition to Lost Music and Twee As Fuck).

No bands have played all five, but bands that have played four are:-
  • Horowitz
  • Pocketbooks
  • Shragg
  • The Cut Outs
  • The Manhattan Love Suicides
  • The Pains of being pure at heart
We can take these bands as being the most well-connected in the Londonish indie scene, well from my perspective anyway, for what its worth.

Bands that have played three are:-
  • A Smile and A Ribbon
  • Bearsuit
  • Liestenstein
  • Mexican Kids At Home
  • Mono Taxi
  • Pete Green
  • Slow Down Tallahassee
  • St Christopher
  • Stars of Aviation
  • Still Corners
  • Strange Idols
  • Strawberry Story
  • The Bobby McGees
  • The Hermit Crabs
  • The Just Joans
  • The Loves
  • The Mai 68s
  • The School
There's around 40 bands who've played two club nights and 140 who've only played one of the clubs on the scene.

Whilst it is possible to do a 2-dimensional five set Venn diagram, it would look horrendous. 4-sets is bad enough

Not sure which clubs to parse next, Guided Missile, White Heat and Goon Nite perhaps. Have I forgotten anyone?

Venn and Databases

Eeep, my two favouritest things in the world, Venn Diagrams and Databases, now, together at last.

Not sure if this is the same as setting up a relationship between my booking in table of serial numbers and my Warrant Card table of customer's products in Open Office. Are table "relationships" the same as "joins"?

In other new, after miss reading a post on the vegan thread I've found this mob who supply goat meat. Sounds interesting. They claim that 80% of the meat consumed in the world is goat, that can't be right, but I can't think of owt wrong with a nice goat steak.

First invokation of Venn

Check it out, I'm on the underground, in London, heading to Camden, listening to my iPod. God bless random, so far I've had Bis, Blur, Architecture in Helsink and Astrid, the last two of whom are playing shows in London next week.

Still blazing hot sunshine here and I'm struggling to figure how, when and where to eat. Yesterday I'd left a dark chocolate Toblerone in my car all day, when I got round to eating it, it was pretty much liquid, even with a spoon, it went everywhere.

Time passes, in some sleepy pub in Camden, in honour of Robbie, a pint of ale, dunno if its any good, but maybe he'll be proud.

I feel I'm only half here. Usually in Camden I'm with friends, Robbie, Jax, Aditi, Paul, Nick.

Awaiting contact from friends, but right now I'm bored and going over comments on LNFGIES.

Bearing in mind the Gresham Flyers non-review makes up about 1% of the reviews on the site, but seems to have generated a lot of interest, especially from Rachel's Facebook page, thank god I can't see what it says.

Idles reckons its complicated, lets invoke Venn

This beer ain't so good.

Heading to Regents Park now, maybe Primrose Hill. Was it 2005?

There's some festival thing in Regents, it appears to be sold out, some fruit juice based village fete style thing. Do I review it from the outside or wander home.

Louis Theroux bonus points? Probably just the one.

I wish I had friends here to drink wine with, this is the time and the summer, rather than all those cute tourist people passing by. I feel sunburn coming on.
